I can't believe the end of the year is almost here!  We are trying to pack as much fun as we can into the last few days of first grade.  Solid shape lunch was a great way to wrap up our unit on shapes this week!  We ate cylinders (carrots, Uncrustables and beef sticks), spheres (Trix cereal), cones (Bugles), rectangular prisms (chocolate stripe marshmallows), cubes (cheese and gum) and pyramids (watermelon slice gummies).  Everyone had a great time sorting and eating their lunch!

Friday, May 5

We have been having a lot of fun with our alphabet countdown!  Dance day and exercise day were quite exciting.  Your kiddos have some outstanding dance moves!  I wish I could have caught more of them on camera!

We also learned about adjectives this week.  Today we each passed around a heart with our name on it so everyone could write an adjective that describes us.  There were some really creative adjectives used!  Everyone had a great time reading their heart when we were done!

I can't believe there are only 19 more days of first grade!  Since this is such a busy time of year and there is so much going on, please remember to check your child's folder each night.  This week some important papers came home.  You should have seen a permission slip for the Rockford Discovery Center and a reminder of our Parents' Day program.  Please note that the correct time of the program is 2:00 on the 11th.  There was a misprint in the school newsletter!
